George Ramsay of Dalhousie was created Lord Ramsay of Melrose in 1618, but shortly afterwards the title was changed to Lord Ramsay of Dalhousie. The 10th Earl, created Marquis in 1849, was Governor-General of India from 1847 to 1858.
