Illinois Jacquet - 1st Epic Label Release - Vinyl LP Record - Promo Copy - 1962 Mono Jazz
ILLINOIS JACQUET MONO LP
Epic Records # LA 16033
This is a Mono, 1st pressing copy of the first LP released on Epic Records in 1962 by Illinois Jacquet. It has a sticker on the front cover and on one of the record labels that says FOR DEMONSTRATION USE ONLY NOT FOR SALE. Although there are some other great musicians on this LP (such as KENNY BURRELL, JO JONES, GEORGE DUVIVIER, ROY ELDRIDGE, etc.), Jacquet sounds very prominent on this album with his tenor sax. The back cover has great liner notes by Leonard Feather, with detailed information about each song on the LP and a lot about Jacquet himself.
The cover has quite a bit of front wear and seam wear, although there is no seam splitting. There are 2 very small surface tears on the front cover. The back cover has light soiling on its white background, but the text is crisp and clear. The Demonstration Use Only sticker on the front cover is torn on its left side. The record is clean but has had a significant amount of plays. The record has lots of light to medium scratches along with a few deeper scratches. Some of these can be felt on the grooves, while others cannot be felt.
